The Fireplaces of Belsay Hall & Castle

Belsay Hall has belonged to The Middleton Family since the early 1800's (Owners of The Castle). The family resided here until 1962 when it was given to English Heritage.
The completion of the hall and gardens was largely due to the eccentric Sir Charles Monck who designed the house in Greek Revival style after a visit to Athens loosely based upon The Temple of Theseus. The Quarry Gardens present a mixture of wild and cultivated plants, and also boast two very well protected species within the world of the wildlife - Red Squirrels & Brown Long Eeared Bats.

I don't think I have ever seen such a variety in fire places.

I hope you get a chance to come over to my brookville blog and see me wearing a blonde wig.
